About Me
(S)he was born with the gift of laughter and the sense that the world was mad.
Rafael Sabatini
I’ve been married, divorced, remarried and raised two children. I’ve run on the corporate hamster wheel and had my #whyamIhere? and #WTF? moments. I’ve dabbled in regional theatre and stand-up comedy. I have a brown belt in karate but I’m way more Sara Lee than Bruce Lee. You can guess my age through carbon dating and I’m adding rings around my middle like a tree. I’ve travelled extensively and my passport photo looks like something from The Walking Dead.
But, as Mark Twain said: “The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.”
This whole website is my collection of musings about life’s absurdities—life, work, kids, relationships, marriage, travel and the advantages of self-medicating. Instead of wine and roses, think days of ‘outward smiles and inward screams.’
I like to amuse myself and, hopefully, others with my writing. Most of what I write is with tongue firmly planted in cheek– A sarcasm sandwich, hold the hate.
Some people will ‘get’ me; some won’t. But if you find me offensive, I kindly suggest you quit finding me.
As for that quote, above? It hung in my father’s study for as long as I can remember and reminds me, daily, to laugh at myself and the world around me.
